Can the Chiropractic Adjustment ENHANCE athletic performance?

Have you ever wondered about the legitimacy of chiropractic care?  You may have had an injury treated by a chiropractor in the past...or maybe you know someone that saw a chiropractor and didn't really understand why.

Through care of your spinal column, resulting in optimal function of your nervous system, chiropractic care is shown to help people with many different conditions, ranging from headache, back and neck pain, painful menstrual cramps, indigestion, heartburn, childhood injuries and illness, all the way to colic in young babies.

Have you ever considered CHIROPRACTIC CARE for dramatically IMPROVED HEALTH AND WELL BEING???

What about enhanced ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE? For you athletes out there, who wouldn't want to compete at a higher level?!

The technique that chiropractors use has been shown to do just that!  According to new research from McGill University in MontrealQuebecCanada enhanced athletic performance was the outcome of a study documented in a 2006 issue of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

The chiropractic adjustive technique, called a high velocity low amplitude thurst (HVLA), is used to treat joint problems(in the spine as well as the extremities).  In some cases a popping noise may be heard with the adjustment.  This noise is air being released from the joint as it is stretched through its range of motion.

The researchers compared changes in the jump height and running speed of 19 elite male and female athletes with and without the chiropractic adjustment.  The athletes performed a 15 minute warm-up, then a vertical jump and 40 meter sprint test were performed to record baseline values.  A Chiropractor then evaluated each subject and performed either an adjustment or administered a placebo adjustment.  The subjects rested for 60 minutes, did another 15 minute warm-up, then were retested on both the vertical jump and the 40 meter sprint. The tests were also performed 48 hours later with the subjects receiving the opposite treatments.

The scientists reported that subjects performed better on both the vertical jump and the 40 meter sprint after they received the chiropractic adjustment, compared to the placebo.

NOW, imagine how chiropractic can enhance your everday life!

Sincerely,

Dr.Brent
